Young Justice #25

The final issue. Too bad, I liked this series, and the show it was based on. Not so much after the jump but I still enjoyed it.

Things I liked: the final moment between Dick and Barbara. I do think she I the life of his life, I just don't think they should be together right now.

Things I didn't like: it felt too rushed. It's as if the cancellation was a bit of a surprise and they had to hurry to fix all the threads.

Young Justice #24

At least this issue actually had the fight between Batgirl and Match that was promised.

Things I liked: they're taking their time with this story. They have too many groups but it doesn't feel rushed.

Things I didn't like: looking for a bit more character. This was all fight scene.

Young Justice #23

Batgirl battles Match alone! Next issue.

Things I liked: there was a lot going on in this issue but nothing really seemed to happen. It was one giant bridge.

Things I didn't like: too many characters. Nothing gs the attention that it deserves. Especially with the flashback to Dick's 14th birthday party too.

Young Justice #22

One if the best things about reading this series isvthatbit tides me over until I can watch more episodes. Especially with the way they air in Canada.

Things I liked: Batgirl and Nightwing communicating through the barrier. The bats do bring the impossible to reality, often making it look easier than you thought it was.

Things I didn't like: and this seems minor but Barbara's nickname has always been "Babs" not "Barb". It just sounds wrong.

Young Justice #21

A story told in more than two parts! It was something that bothered me before.

Things I liked: I really liked the way Nightwing was drawn this issue. It was well captured.

Things I didn't like: the collector didn't quite collect the League's heavies. Martian Manhunter probably should have been grabbed too.

Young Justice #20

Not in favour of the time jump so soon but do like what they've done with it. Quick and easy catch up of where everyone is.

Things I liked: continuing the proud tradition of Dick being the slut of the DC Universe.

Things I didn't like: Clark seemed kind of thrown in there. Nice to see him and Superboy get along but it was still unsatisfying.

Young Justice #19

It was interesting to see all the gorilla origin stories condensed into one story. It's a reminder on just how many gorillas DC has.

Things I liked: it was all told from Robin's point of view. Of all of them he is most likely to keep "case files".

Things I don't like: still feels rushed into Invasion. I would have liked to see a few more stories with the original crew. Hopefully there'll lots of flashbacks to explain why they are where they are.

Young Justice #18

Rushing forward to season 2. I was hoping they'd stick with the original team for a bit longer, but it really looks like they're plowing ahead.

Things I liked: very tight with the chronology. I know exactly where this takes place. It was great that Robin gave the gorillas the most trouble.

Things I didn't like: the Brain's mash up of French and English. It was too much. A phrase, or a word, is more realistic.

Young Justice #17

I wish they weren't afraid to do three part stories. The pay off just wasn't worth the set up.

Things I liked: Batman's disappearing act. Robin does try to take after his mentor.

Things I didn't like: not enough quips from Robin. He needs to be more vocal.

Young Justice #16

A bit of one on one time for the mentors and their apprentices. At least it establishes that Barry is faster than Wally. I saw it in the show and thought that it was odd that it had never come up before.

Things I liked: seeing the mentors mentoring. It makes the world more complete.

Things I didn't like: Batman and Robin's section. Robin was too quiet. Robin, especially Dick Grayson's Robin, always has something to say.

Young Justice #15

Maybe I'm too well versed on comics history to have found suspense in this story. As soon as Ocean Master was revealed I knew it was Orm. I'm sort of disappointed that he wasn't officially outed.

Things I liked: the political structure of Atlantis intrigues me. If Aquaman is king of the whole country, why are the heads of cities still called kings.

Things I didn't like: it felt rushed. It had such a good build up but really felt flat in the end.

Young Justice #14

This was a really good read.  None of the characters are among my favourites: Miss Martian is too one dimensionally happy, Superboy is too one dimensionally moody and Aqualad is boring.  But the authors brought them together in a story that has potential.  It's nice to see DC acknowledging that it has many versions of Atlantis that can fit into one continent.

Things I liked: again with the between the episodes.  T.O. Morrow and his accomplice digging up Firebrand directly leads into the episode Homefront.

Things I didn't like: I did not enjoy the way M'Gann's transformations were drawn.  It just didn't look right.  And that Superboy had to comment on each change in her appearance.  It felt forced.

Young Justice #13

I can't help but feel like this issue was to show the thoughts behind Aqualad's sudden need to return to Atlantis. It does make that episode make more sense.

Things I liked: seeing Artemis go undercover withhold meet Icicle Jr.

Things I didn't like: Aqualad is not my favourite. He's just a little boring.

Young Justice #12

Much better outing than last time. This one is a look behind the show.

Things I liked: that the story was a series of flashbacks. Each one looking back just a little bit further.

Things I didn't like: shoehorning Clayface into a love story about Talia and Batman. He was an actor, not an assassin.

Young Justice #11

I've said before that this is about what happens between the episodes.  This issue is a prime example.  While the rest of the team is off looking for Dr. Fate / Kent Nelson Batman and Robin are doing the Dynamic Duo thing.

Things I liked: nice to see Robin in action with Batman.

Things I didn't like: it felt rushed.  I would've liked it to be drawn out a bit more so there was more story.

Young Justice #10

Not a strong back half to this story. There were a few too many holes in the narrative. It felt like they needed a few extra pages.

I'm also surprised that Robin, with his Bat-trained paranoia and facial recognition software, did not notice that Captain Atom and Captain Nate Adams were the same person. I knew he was using the team for his own personal gain. Also, I have no recollection of Captain Atom being able to look more human. As far as I knew he was trapped inside a metallic shell.

Things I liked: they went to Bibbo's while in Metropolis.

Things I didn't like: when going out in civilian identity, Miss Martian should probably try to look more human. Or at least not green.

Young Justice #9

The team gets a much needed lesson on espionage.  And then throw most of what they learned out the window.  That's not surprising.  At least they're working more like a team now.

Things I liked: Captain Atom was a nice addition.  He comes across as very stiff and he knows it so uses it to his advantage.  I like that he sent them after his own case.

Things I didn't like:  they made the they're/there mistake and it made it past the editor!

Young Justice #8

The origin of Artemis continues in this one. There were always a lot of questions with Artemis. Like, why did Green Arrow replace Speedy / Red Arrow so quickly? Is she really his niece? Red Arrow certainly didn't trust her and she has some connection to the League of Shadows.

Things I liked: the internal monologue. It gave a real chance for Artemis to shine through. She has a "tough girl" persona that seems like it may be an act. This gave her a chance to show what she's hiding.

Things I didn't like: I can't think of anything. This was a solid issue.

Young Justice #7

This one's kind of interesting.  Artemis hasn't officially joined the team yet and here is an entire issue devoted to her.  It clears up a lot of the mystery surrounding her and it manages to insert her right into the story in what looks to be a believable way.  It's the next issue that will really determine how seamless it will be.

Things I liked:  Artemis' voice.  Most of the story is told through dialogue boxes and not so much dialogue.  It's very internal and fits with how she's been portrayed so far.

Things I didn't like:  I thought that Artemis' mother had more of a hand in raising her.  It looks like she's just gotten out pf prison after 6 years of being away.  In Downtime it looked like they'd had more than a few months together to be used to Mrs. Crock's wheelchair and the absence of Artemis' father.

Young Justice #6

Well, how about that?  I was wrong.

They start with Robin reliving his story.  He doesn't tell it to his team his story, and his story is really the most tragic so far.  Aqualad wanted to be Aqualad, Kid Flash wanted to be Kid Flash, but Robin wanted to be just like the rest of his family.  They've added more Flying Graysons than just two I'm used to, I'm not sure how I feel about that.  I'm adverse to major changes.  Sure, his uncle is paraplegic, but so is Artemis' mom and she's raising her.  Maybe they put it in to have some bonding between Artemis and Robin in the future.

Miss Martian was not ignored!  She wanted to follow her uncle J'ohnn to Earth and competed for the privilege.  They even mentioned the white and red Martians to allude to her comic origins.  I guess she's supposed to be a white Martian.  I suppose she still might be but she went to pains to mention that both of her parents were green (even though she has nothing against the whites and reds).

Thankfully, Superboy's Superman-killing thoughts were kept very brief.  Sure, he only knows what Cadmus pumped into him from the G-Gnomes but I find they're really pushing this angsty, teenage weapon on me.

Things I liked:  Um...  I guess that Superboy's dream was so short.  There was a lot more that I didn't like about this issue.  Oh!  And that Dick spaced out when he was asked about how he became Robin.  That's the type of angst I go for.

Things I didn't like:  Dick has an uncle that I've never heard about.  The character's like 70-some years old and has a great origin story.  No need to add a family member we'll likely never see.
