Dial 'H' for Hero #6

For a fill in issue this was actually pretty amusing.

Things I liked: that Manteau had rules when the dialed hero was too much to go out. There are some pretty crazy stereotypes that have been put into comics.

Things I didn't like: potty humour. The horse did not have shit on people to save the day.

Arrow #8

Best of both worlds, marrying a teacher and connected to the mob.

Things I liked: that it acknowledged Helen's past in the DCU.

Things I didn't like: still going from 0-60 with nothing in between.

Animal Man #14

I still don't quite get what's going on with Animal Man.

Things I liked: nice to see Black Orchid again. And to have it acknowledged that orchid are a bit of both the Red and the Green.

Things I didn't like: well, at least there's a reason Maxine is precocious. I still would've liked her older.

Detective Comics #15

I've never been a big fan of Clayface, and I'm still not. The weakest of the "Death of the Family" crossovers so far.

Things I liked: I did like how vulnerable Basil was. I can imagine that since he's been transformed he's been lonely, who wants to date mud?

Things I didn't like: taking over the Penguin's empire and the. Calling yourself Emperor Penguin? Lame.

Talon #1

I didn't like the idea of the Talons getting their own series. They were great foil for Batman, but undead assassins don't make for a good series. I like Scott Snyder so I gave it a chance. I'm glad I did.

Things I liked: he's not dead. That's really the first thing. Plus he's got a reason to be doing what he's going to do.

Things I didn't like: would have liked a little more background. I'm really curious as to who Calvin Rose is. They didn't tell me enough!

Superman #14

I kind of agree with Clark. News isn't news anymore. Wasn't expecting him to quit though, he does need a day job.

Things I liked: Jimmy getting some. It's nice to see him as a real person rather than some exaggerated nerd.

Things I didn't like: Supergirl going on about Krypton again. She's been there, she knows its dead.

MacGyver #1

How can I resist MacGyver? I was trying to figure out if this was during the series or post-series. I'm leaning to the latter. He's part of the Phoenix Foundation and not the DEA.

Things I liked: it felt like MacGyver. There's the narrative intro, the hot chick that distrusts him, it's about friends and, of course, science!

Things I didn't like: the plot is a little far fetched, but what MacGyver wasn't?
