Green Lantern #15

I hope Hal Jordan and Sinestro are only mostly dead. I'd hate to see Hal be dead again.

Things I liked: the agent who found Simon. Him I could get used to seeing.

Things I didn't like: the Third Army is spreading really fast. What happens if Superman runs into them?

DC Universe Presents #15

They're terrible with secret identities.

Things I liked: Danny wants to be cut out for the hero biz, but he's lacking something. There's a lot of potential for growth there.

Things I didn't like: starting to feel rushed. I thought they'd give the story time to come to a natural conclusion.

Batwoman #15

A whole story from Maggie. I imagine that's what it's like being a police officer in Gotham. Helplessness.

Things I liked: seeing how normal people are dealing with this madness.

Things I didn't like: being a tomboy doesn't make a girl a lesbian. Sometimes Maggie is a little too stereotypical.

Arrow #16

There's the Arrow we expect - random death of goons.

Things I liked: that is the sort of story Ollie would fall for. He has a bind spot for sons against dads. Sort of like pirates of Penzance and orphans.

Things I didn't like: in the show they call him the Hood. Here he gets called the vigilante. I figured they'd use his media name.

Nightwing #16

I have to keep reminding myself that Nightwing was injured when this story began. Otherwise the gas did something to him because he sure loses a lot.

Things I liked: Nightwing is the Joker's least favourite. I find that appropriate.

Things I didn't like: it would be nice to see him come out on top of one fight in his own book.

Red Hood and the Outlaws #16

Scott Lobdell has a way with words. I love the way he makes these guys talk.

Things I liked: Arsenal really comes through strong in this one. He knows what he's doing and he's knows that he doesn't look like he does.

Things I didn't like: Killer Croc got Arsenal off drugs? I don't like how they're writing Nightwing out of other characters' histories.

Justice League #16

I feel kind of bad for Aquaman. Trying to look cool in front of his brother and Batman won't help a dude out.

Things I liked: the Atlantians come across as a real threat. Maybe too much of one, but they're definitely not a joke.

Things I didn't like: the Atlantians seemed a little too powerful. It's the Superman problem really. I don't think he can be brought down by lightning, but what else ones Orm have?

Wonder Woman #16

I generally dislike comics where two heroes meet for the first time and then immediately fight. But if it leads to Orion calling Diana "Legs" I can forgive them.

Things I liked: this is an epic story. It's got all the right elements.

Things I didn't like: I've had enough of Zola.

Young Justice #24

At least this issue actually had the fight between Batgirl and Match that was promised.

Things I liked: they're taking their time with this story. They have too many groups but it doesn't feel rushed.

Things I didn't like: looking for a bit more character. This was all fight scene.

Superboy #15

Poor Superboy, everybody just wants to use him for something.

Things I liked: Kara's little look after H'El touched her. I hope it means she doesn't trust him.

Things I didn't like: DNA doesn't work that way.

Ravagers #7

It's weird going from Legion Lost to this. The Ravagers are involved in both fights, but very different thing are happening.

Things I liked: Terra really let loose.

Things I didn't like: it's a bit of a rut. Caitlin finds out how dangerous they can but wants to ignore it so she can help them.

Legion Lost #15

I think this title is winding down. Everything is about the last stand.

Things I liked: not much. Just another big fight.

Things I didn't like: the last few issues have just been a big fight. I had high hopes for this series but since the team up with the Teen Titans it hasn't been as good.

Demon Knights #15

Ironic. I just decide that I don't want to read Stormwatch anymore and this title becomes it.

Things I liked: Jason and the Demon are one again. That's as it should be.

Things I didn't like: I knew that this was related to Stormwatch, I didn't see Merlin becoming Adam.

Arrow #15

Must be nice to be able to kill in front of a child and still be labeled a hero.

Things I liked: they're building the geography nicely. I really hope other heroes make appearances.

Things I didn't like: it's not that easy to stand on a train going 135 mph.

Batman and Robin #16

The joker really went to he least amount of effort with Damian. I can understand but he's really a more complex character than this.

Things I liked: actually I was disappointed in this one.

Things I didn't like: Tomasi has a hard time with Damian. His character fluctuates wildly from issue to issue. He can't decide if he's a hero or if he's just barely holding back the ultra violence.

Batman #16

I really don't want to know what's under the dome. I expect it'll make a few more appearances.

Things I liked: the Joker has a plan. A very theatrical plan. I can hear the Joker set out his plots.

Things I didn't like: why would Batman put the electrode over his head. It doesn't make sense.

Batgirl #16

This was so good on so many levels. Gail Simone is amazing with this character.

Things I liked: Barbara's internal monologue about how she feels about the Joker. Especially when she had the chainsaw and the revelation that she had no problem cutting him into little bits.

Things I didn't like: the nature of the reboot really. She was now only 17 when the Joker paralyzed her. If Nightwing is still younger than her it's not by much. I've always liked that she was the older one in that relationship.

Worlds' Finest #7

And I continue to wait for my Nightwing/Huntress meet.

Things I liked: Helena and Damian really do get along.

Things I didn't like: even Darkseid wouldn't give weapons to untrained children.

Swamp Thing #15

I know when a story is going well when I have a hard time resisting moving on to the next issue.

Things I liked: looks like Batman has decided to use the Man-Bat formula to protect Gotham.

Things I didn't like: William's all over the place. I'm having trouble keeping track of when he's supposed to be.

Phantom Stranger #3

I don't think they quite know what to do with this series. Everything seems forced and half done.

Things I liked: interesting to see other characters being bought forward.

Things I didn't like: I hate seeing the Stranger's home life. It doesn't make him the unknown anymore.

Earth 2 #7

Sandman is Canadian! And he kicks ass! I'm wondering how much of the Justice Society will be re-imagined.

Things I liked: Kendra's wings are part of her. I like that better than a harness.

Things I didn't like: the plan against Sloane. This can't go well.

Dial 'H' for Hero #7

Canadian special forces? Tee hee!

Things I liked: Manteau's losing it. This can not go well for Nelson.

Things I didn't like: the Centipede? Really?

Arrow #14

I've seen Laurel fight on the show. She didn't learn that in her garage with her dad.

Things I liked: a little background is always nice.

Things I didn't like: the art isn't defined enough to know who everybody is. Especially when they're all wearing the same thing.

Animal Man #15

If you're going to find a very powerful being, can't go wrong with a Green Lantern.

Things I liked: turning into quite the epic.

Things I didn't like: still trying to figure how this will be set right.

Detective Comics #16

Not sure where this one was going. I guess it was all about the big villain reveal at the end?

Things I liked: that Batman saw through the ruses and knew where he needed to be.

Things I didn't like: it's really not as easy to remove a face as these comics have been making it out to be.

Voltron Year One #6

I don't want this to end! I want to see him recreate the Voltron origin with these characters.

Things I liked: Lance's anger. It gives him the fire that I remember.

Things I didn't like: Pidge and Hunk get girls but Lance and Keith get each other?

Voltron #9

I wouldn't trust Lotor either.

Things I liked: Lance and Keith have the right relationship.

Things I didn't like: some of the art is really ugly.

Talon #2

Still trying to establish what it's planning to be, but I like what Snyder has put together so far.

Things I liked: Calvin has untapped depth.

Things I didn't like: I lost how he opened the puzzle, it wasn't clear from the art.

Superman #14

Yup. Superman's a dick. Thinking he knows better than everybody.

Things I liked: that he's finally lost his patience with Kara. She was getting annoying.

Things I didn't like: so H'El has mind powers too? Awesome.

Fury of Firestorm #14

I'm kind of curious which of them gets displaced. It still looks mostly like Ronnie's body but the bad guy is definitely in charge.

Things I liked: they're starting to be friends. I liked Ronnie's reaction to his mom possibly dating Jason's dad.

Things I didn't like: Captain Atom is hanging out on the moon, huh? How original.

The Flash #14

Hmmm... Not sure about this one. I didn't like how Grodd has siphoned the speed force, but it was a powerful story.

Things I liked: Solovar! Can't have a Grodd story without Solovar.

Things I didn't like: why is his suit disintegrating? I guess so Patty can find out who he is.

Batman Incorporated #5

Grant Morrison must be pissed. He seems to be tearing down everything he built with Batman Inc. Fine by me.

Things I liked: not much. I'm not a fan of dystopian futures.

Things I didn't like: everyone is out of character. Damian had so much growth and they seem intent on stripping it away.

All-Star Western #14

Tallulah Black is gone and I'm a little disappointed by that. Back to the odd couple stories though.

Things I liked: a very Hitchcockian moment with Arkham. I knew he was going to find his contact ecad by Hyde. It didn't stop the vision of the bath tab being any less horrifying.

Things I didn't like: not really enjoying the Tomahawk backup story. Current events may have soured me though.

Arrow #13

Not buying it. It's too early in his career for him to be fighting crime in other cities.

Things I liked: he ran out of arrows! He doesn't have a Quiver of Holding.

Things I didn't like: he's obsessed with Starling City. This isn't Starling City.

Teen Titans #15

I really liked this one. Tim has always been the smartest Robin because he was able to predict what people were going to do. This is what the Joker does. It's two predictive powers set against one another.

Things I liked: the narration from Tim followed by the counter explanation from the Joker. It was a game of who could get who. Like the Princess Bride and why you should never get involved in a land war in Asia.

Things I didn't like: heroes versus hobos. I didn't think they'd be as lost as they are.

Batman: The Dark Knight #15

DUMB! This was so dumb I yelled at the comic.

Things I liked: Ethan van Schriever takes over the art next issue.

Things I didn't like: Batman hooks himself up to an aerosol to spray his blood over Gotham city to act as an antidote. It doesn't work that way! Plus, I had to read it three times but Alfred does tell Batman it's inane even for him. Insane! The word you're looking for is insane!

Arrow #12

Ollie and post traumatic stress. It was bound to happen.

Things I liked: this is something that I wish the show would deal with more offer. He keeps saying he's had a terrible experience, but for the most part seems pretty put together.

Things I didn't like: should be dead. He was right in the middle of the explosion.

Aquaman #14

I don't trust Orm, and neither should Aquaman.

Things I liked: Orm being a child of his mother rather than his father. It makes more sense that way.

Things I didn't like: not much really. Orm's back, Vulko's back. Aquaman as king is back. Even Garth got a mention.

Justice League #15

Lot of build up for the crossover event with Aquaman. They're trying so hard to make him cool.

Things I liked: everyone goes to Batman. Cyborg has a problem and calls Batman. Aquaman reluctantly calls Batman. Superman even invokes him as he's telling Diana about secret identities.

Things I didn't like: Wonder Woman helps Superman catch the aircraft carrier. Superman has established the he can hold way more mass than that ship. Unless it was just a case of making it not break in half, but even then I think they were too close together to have made a difference.

The Captain Marvel story in the back continues to frustrate me. He's not a hero and Freddy is not helping to make him one. Black Adam is going to wipe the street with him.

Sword of Sorcery #2

Beowulf intrigues me, obviously in the future and obviously after a cataclysm. I want more of the history.

Things I liked: it's an interesting world that's being built here.

Things I didn't like: needlessly complex.

Supergirl #14

H'El seems too powerful: super strong, teleportation, can let Kara learn the language instantly, bows where to find them all. I don't like it. I guess he has to be to be dangerous to all three of them. I kind of hope he's Brainiac,

Things I liked: at least Kara finally knows English.

Things I didn't like: false advertising on the cover. One page does not make this the defining moment of the story.

MacGyver #2

This book gives me nostalgia. I can almost hear the theme song when I read it,

Things I liked: Mac's reaction to the bar fight. He was always about talking out the solution. Also, nice touch on hiding his first name on the list of students. Of course we all know it now but it was a big reveal for just that reason.

Things I didn't like: didn't seem as rooted in reality as I'm used to. Some of the stunts were over the top for what Mac can do.

Green Lantern: New Guardians #14

This is dumb. I don't like the multi-coloured lanterns to begin with and now Kyle has to tap into all of them? Kyle's ring has always been different but this is dumb.

Things I liked: Kyle's list of why he's always afraid. That's been what made him a good Green Lantern.

Things I didn't like: besides what I've already said, I don't like this new artist.

Green Lantern #14

For a minute there I thought he might meet up with heroes and not fight. I guess it's just too good a meme to avoid.

Things I liked: casual insult to Batman. More Batman's response. It's what Hal said to him when they first met.

Things I didn't like: that the ring went haywire when Batman touched it. It's been established that Batman can remove a ring, I don't like when the new guy gets better powers than the original for no apparent reason.

DC Universe Presents #13

Really? Friends in high school? That's lame. And they're trying too hard to make them a team. Face it. Blue Devil and Black Lightning have nothing in common other then their list status.

Things I liked: I like Danny. I hope he finds a place.

Thing I didn't like: it just feels forced. It doesn't work.

Catwoman #15

The Joker's working awfully hard to convince Catwoman that she loves Batman. He must have known it would drive her away.

Things I liked: very on your toes type of story. She didn't feel safe through the whole thing.

Things I didn't like: I have no idea how her shadow is supposed to look like a cat.

Batwoman #14

At least they're consistent with how they're re-imagining the Greek gods. I don't really like Pegasus as a person but he wasn't around long enough to make a difference.

Things I liked: the different ways Batwoman and Wonder Woman are seeing the same situation.

Things I didn't like: Gotham doesn't have to be the seed of all evil. There are other bad places in the world.
