Detective Comics #2

I like the way Tony Daniel writes the relationship between Batman and Gordon. It has the feeling of a long partnership where they know each other well enough that they don't need to say everything. I find that Daniel is also really emphasizing the "playboy" aspect of Bruce Wayne. He holds a meeting on a rock wall and he has sex with a reporter in his office. Nothing much happens in this issue, it's moving forward to the next episode. Even the Joker's involvement in #1 seems to be a set up for another of Daniel's creepy villains. This one is the Dollmaker. I would have liked to see what happened to the Joker as #1 was a cliffhanger but I suspect more is coming.

Things I liked: the pacing and dialogue. Daniel really has a handle on these characters.

Things I didn't like: what makes Charlotte Rivers different from Viki Vale?
